I'm conducting yet another Poll to see where people's attitudes are today regarding dating. Please vote the way you actually conduct yourself on dates.
In today's environment of STDs, many people are starting to actually ask their potential sex partners about their sexual history.
The Poll question is: "Should You Provide Full Sexual Disclosure To Dates?" If yes or no, please leave a comment as to why. If none of the choices appeal to you, please vote "Other" and then leave a comment explaining why. Please be sure to take a few moments to actually vote in the poll.
If you wish to add commentary, please do so. I really want to know what men and women think about dating in 2008.

If you are going to definitely have sex, you should disclose any active std to give your date the option of going further.

I say it depends on the sexual encounter. If it's a heat of the moment, one night stand type thing, of course not. And I know that's dumb, but just speaking realistically no one is going to talk about that if it's a one time thing. If it's someone you repeatedly have sex with, HELL YES. In fact I think that we should have to have SEX RESUMES, just like the resume you have to submit to employers. You should have to carry it around with you like a damn driver's license and if you have a disease your doctor should have to put full details on your resume. It would limit a lot of disease passing. This is our LIVES we're talking about. It's humorous, but i'm serious!!

I have always asked potential partners the last time and frequency they've been to the OB/GYN. Also, if they've had an HIV test and the date of the last test. Must see results of test.

I don't own anyone an explanation about my sexual past unless me and that man are taking our friendship to a serious level and even with that, I feel that all anyone needs to know is that I'm clean.
You can't judge a person by how many individuals they've had sex with. Even if a person was "loose" at one point, people change.

If you think the relationship is going somewhere then you should. You can usually tell right off the bat is there is any chemistry and I don't mean physically. Only someone you plan on developing a long term relationship with needs to know all that as long as you are practicing safe sex. If you're not then you're an idiot that doesn't deserve an LTR with someone special anyway. Frankly these days it's all about self so I don't expect anyone to show me this courtesy because women are always hiding things from men and important things at that!!!!

I voted "no" because since I don't have casual sex full disclosure is not necessary if I'm just hangin' out with a friend or getting to know someone new. I avoid "heat of the moment" moments.
However, once the relationship becomes more serious, I think FULL sexual disclosure is absolutely necessary for the safety of both parties. If that person has a problem with disclosing his sexual history, then that's the first sign that he's not someone I want to be intimate with.

Hell naw! That is a complete turn off! You do not need my sexual resume.
If you want to be tested together, I can respect that - if you want to go to the Dr together, no problem. I'm clean - that should be the only concern.
A person could be clean after 100 partners or dirty after only one - the number of partners is not relevant. If you had crabs in 10th grade and clap in college - it is PAST - antibiotics took care of that.
Now if you have Herpes or Aids, some s*** you cant get rid of --- then HELL yes, you need to disclose that info ASAP! Otherwise... be selective and practice safe sex.

Wow! I am amazed that folks think that if they aren't having a long term relationship yet have an std they shouldnt say a thing!! It shows that this is the reason why so many African Americans are full of disease and lacking solid relationships.
I personally don't have a problem with anyone being with whomever they like when they want but if you have a disease and have unprotected sex, something should be revealed to the potential lover. This is just craziness. If you don't care about the person care about the people you could effect by doing such a thing.
If you are adult enough to contract an std, be adult enough to be responsible and not be a spreader!!!
