The word nigga is a term of offence, but used by black people to underline their wretchedness. As they embrace that, they also embrace a culture that threatens their social fabric and ultimately their very existence. This is a word that connotes their plight and their allowance of the term reflects their complacency amidst of it. The acceptance of that word signifies the delusional acceptance of black self inflicted oppression, but not white. Used by the whites to psychologically confuse and chicane these blacks into submitting themselves. The acceptance of this word signifies the acceptance of impoverished existence, legacy of slavery, and the acceptance of ignorance and social rejection. The acceptance of this word connotes an acceptance of their predicament and is the porte-manteau of a whole heap of attributes that this word connotes. Nigger denotes “black” or some would say “ignorance”, but it connotes “slave”, “sub-human”, etc...To accept this term, is to accept that which it connotes, in a politically fuelled world of which PC is the currency. The de-stigmatization process of the word really just means an acceptance of the word, and that which it connotes, but seen as permissible from one under the same circumstances (which is reflective of the crab in the barrel theory) but not from someone who can be seen as superior (nor inferior, for only an up to par subject will do). Blacks also have a tendency to let other people define them and, even subconsciously, know the word and it’s meaning, so to have a white say it to them, in whatever context, bustles the chip on their shoulder and awakes their, until then, dormant conscience, if only for that moment in time. They are kept in ghetto isolation, mentally as well as physically, and so remain out of touch with the going ons of the world around them, as it deliberately remains out of touch with them and out of the loop and severely disenfranchised. This explains their alienation towards others, forced on them BY others, and so their animosity to others, especially if the “others” aim to “integrate” in their culture or remind them of said wretchedness.
Whites have been interested in black culture for thousands of years and have sought ways to integrate into it, hijacking African science, philosophy, medicine and music to further their own cultural advancement and secure the domineering position they enjoy, in this day, as the so-called discoverers and innovators. They “innovated”, blacks created. Whites follow a distinct pattern in their dealings with blacks, and it goes so. First blacks create it, then whites hate it, then they integrate in it, and then they take it. It’s happened throughout history, ancient as well as recent, just look at music around the Americas (salsa, rumba, mambo, samba, punda, plena, rock N roll and now hip-hop (though the control is dissimulated and less flagrant) amongst many others.) Uncultured and uninspired thieves, cavalierly relying on other nations to propel them, degrading said nations when their entire existence is intrinsically interdependent on the cultures they steal from. Look at the last 100 years in the Americas. Their whole notion of freedom and independence was inspired by Africans. How else could you describe the ferocity with which a bunch of reject immigrants cum rag tag, pitchfork wielding militia, fought?
My point here is that, many white people have no sensitivity nor understanding of black culture, or of whence it came, ESPECIALLY these so-called integrationalists who, I’m pretty sure, due to the fickle nature of their minds, would have easily been led by the drift of KKK and other racist organisations, when racial white supremacy was the order of the day, and as such, would have been the BIGGEST racists. Easily influenced by a culture they can’t even explain, and that isn’t even theirs, how easy would it have been for them to have been ensnared back in the day? They claim that the term “nigga” has no stigma anymore and no real meaning, and when that fails they talk about blacks who use it, and when that fails, they go off on a tangent about how they aren’t racist and how their black friends let them use the word, like these stupid individuals represent the wider African population and community. I have issues with all arguments.
• The term nigga is very powerful, based on the psychological value it has. That word is a vile word, it is like a sponge with acid soaked up inside it when used. Richard Prior talked on a few occasions on how that word can close any argument or dispute. Nigga or Nigger makes no difference, as it is a pronounced variation, of which the word “nigger” it’s self is issue.
• I use it rarely, and when I do, there’s a point. I use it on blacks I feel are ignorant (Tupac said Never Ignorant, but that alone is ignorant for Tupac had the right mind, but the wrong mind state and was grossly erroneous at times) and when I am angry or aim to make a point, but the same way you might speak to your younger sister or brother in a certain tone when annoyed, but would completely see red if an outsider were to speak to them in the same manner, I speak to them and see red the same way. I have already explained about blacks who use it, but I will add that, if you surround yourself with blacks who use the word, you should be able to see that those who use that word are at fault and not copy them. When you see that it causes them offence and you are so self-righteously obstinate in your so-called “right” to use that word, you are being disrespectful. If you respected them, as your friends, or your peers, a social minority that, in spite of a majority, which you are part of, you go out of your way to socialize with, and you knew the history of the word, you couldn’t use it the first time, let alone if they asked you to stop. To try to justify that is disrespect.
If blacks use that word, as I have said before, that is their own wretchedness and is absolutely nothing to do with white people. It is none of their business, The fact is, whites do NOT need to use that word, black people have had that word forced upon them (just as with language, etc), literally and figuratively when we delve into its connoted meaning. They have been either told or shown that that is what they are, and so have tried to apply it and extract the stigma from it. Whites on the other hand have deliberately chosen to PICK up the word, if not having picked it up from racists in which case to use it would have no other function than the one of which they heard it, meaning to say that no white could pick it up from white racists, and then use it and profess to not be racist, when the context they are using it in is defined by where they picked it up and what context it was used in when they did. A white who wasn’t racist wouldn’t, couldn’t use it then. So whites have picked up the word and are using it and have neither the will power nor the respect to stop using it.
They are not submitted to the same discrimination as blacks, even though whites can be discriminated against, they, proportionally, have it easy compared to what their black equal counterpart would get. (Example, a white gang member will be prosecuted, but nowhere near as severely as a black gang member. The statistics, prison and conviction, attest vehemently to that) They do not know the pressures that come with having black skin, the lack of any potent legacy, the institutionalized contempt and esteem held of them, being a target to your own race and having nowhere and no one to turn to, (not even police, ESPECIALLY police, who are the biggest enemy for they represent and enforce the will of the system that oppresses them), self destructing and wayfaring in their own self loathing. A white can fix up and turn their life around, comb their hair, speak proper English or whatever the European language may be, and fit in. Even an Irish could change their name and accent and be accepted. As soon as blacks pick up a phone or go to a job interview, however, they have a mark against them. And there is no changing voices (blacks have more bass in their voices, hence the age old but newly documented phenomenon of “phone racism” or discrimination) or skin tone. Even a with an English or European name. Naturally, in this department, however, Africans of the Diaspora fare better than most of their siblings on the continent, which also falls in with compliance. An identity snatched for a place in the employ of the snatchers, talk about compromise.
Whites refuse to associate themselves with any of the pressures and burdens of being black; at times even joining Diaspora Africans in mocking Continental ones for their more “African” features and skin tone, which to me is deeply racist to the core in every way. Whites want to join in in black festivities and intermix and mingle with blacks, but don’t realize that they are living the best in both worlds and can ultimately switch when it suits them (Example, all these white so-called Africans who adamantly claim to be Africans, but as soon as civil war breaks out, grab their big-shot planes and get the hell out of there). They don’t realize that blacks would not be as welcome in their worlds and can’t socialize in certain circles, but cry foul for being given a hard time by more culturally aware blacks.
And also, the tradition that is now legendary, the black on black violence, is never shared by whites. That “long black song” and the “blues” are never truly felt by whites, although it is attempted by them. They want to sound, look and be like blacks, but refuse to feel like blacks when that is the very essence of blacks and the creative influence blacks have had, largely unnoticed, in recent times. Whites have more benefits than blacks in this white dominated world, without implying that it is a benefit, for it is not, to use the word “nigga”. It is more of a liberty, a vocational licence bestowed onto blacks by blacks to rage and come to terms with their predicament even if most don’t know what it is. Whites do not share the duties, so why should they share the liberties? And that word is a big liberty.
Whites don’t share the double edge of the sword of the word with blacks, for when it is said with spite, hate and anger, only one gets hurt. And it is not the white. Blacks took that word to try to control it, because by controlling it they sought to control its meaning and its implications, but failed still.
• Using the word does not necessarily make a white a racist, not an outright or conscious one, at least. But the refusing to not use it does. It shows a lack of respect, especially with the past in light and the history of that word, in its context and its relation with blacks. It shows a lack of sensitivity and insight. It shows ignorance, the same that attains and grips those same racist bigots who do not hide their racism. It shows a complete disregard for black people and it shows a complete disregard for blacks who wish for them not to use it (e.g. a friend, etc). Just because a white can have a black friend that allows them use it, doesn’t mean that they should. You could joke with a gay friend about being a “f*g”, and it is all banter. You catch a gay in the street and call him that, he is bound to take offence.
Not that I am comparing homosexuality (a chosen, practice non restricted to race, skin tone or background) to black people (a culture and race oppressed on the basis of their skin tone amongst other things) for it is not anywhere near as extreme, but it is the same principle. If it be so, the usage of it should be confined and restricted to private use with them. And as for these blacks who consent to this usage, much is to be said about them. The way they behave and live could prove an empirical didactic into understanding how they could overlook that, which I’m sure a white could pick up and act upon accordingly.
The fact of the matter is, there are a lot of things I see blacks do that whites wouldn’t do. A white would not disrespect their race for money, nor insult themselves (unless identically challenged and confused) or the opposite sex of their race. If you look attentively, there is a way these whites deal with their black partners and their white ones. Black partners, for them, fulfill the fantasy much romanticized about in the media and serve that sole purpose. But they are never really ever serious prospects for relationships. That is reserved to their white, identical, partners, for the most part.
Those whites who reframe from using the term and show more respect have a tendency to cherish their black partners. This is my empirical view, wholly epistemic for I have a tendency to avoid relationships of the sort, due to the fact that I don’t want to have to face these issues, which can be detrimental to a relationship. I want an innate understanding and parallel, culturally and ideologically which would rest on the origin of the girl being the same as mine, black, African (West Indian, South American, North American or Africa, it is the same, culturally and linguistically West and South West Africans are closer to black West Indians or Blacks in the Americas than they are to South or East Africans and South and East Africans share a lot in common with South West and West Africans).
Whites have also tried to stigmatize their own words, such as “honkey”, “ofay” which is pig-latin for “foe” and “whitey”, “white boy” and “cracker” amongst many others, in order to toil their own web of seclusion and garner a mystique about themselves, in a bid to make them-selves interesting in their dejected feeling through the fact that they can’t fit in with what’s “down” thus attempting to forge their own club and set their own requirements that blacks don’t meet, not realizing that they have been and continue to do it to this day. (They do not understand that blacks’ racism does not affect whites in the way that whites’ racism affects blacks. Not only is it because of the past, but because of the present as the legacy of the past. Blacks don’t have a stronghold in society and their views affect nothing, whereas whites are in a position that depends on fairness for an unbiased judgment and equality. Equality is a myth, they do not mean it, all they mean is, since they have wronged blacks and they know it, the meter is reset, and so any redemption of retribution in self defense or revenge on the part of blacks will look like a vie for supremacy, rather than redemption, and would be viewed as racist. That is why some will read this and think it is racist, these are what I call preservative means.). “Cracker” and “white trash” were terms that they, whites, invented, and since they were a majority, they could afford to distinguish themselves from others of the same race. Whites were the ones who started calling poorer whites “white trash” and even though blacks did too, this was because many of these newly impoverished paupers had been minor slave owners in the past, and now, having had their livelihoods snatched from them, had nothing, and so blacks called them trash to distinguish them from their former selves. Whites started calling themselves “cracker” and even named Georgia the “cracker state”, and none of these words bares the same weight, infused into a semantic manifestation, as does the word “nigga”. Even “whiteboy” is different from “blackboy” because when they were first used, “white” was good, “black” was bad, it is only recently perceptions have altered a little, here and there. Black had its connotation, hence the Black Power party trying to redeem it (and arguably successfully having done so) in the ‘60s with its “black is beautiful” slogan. But when “white boy” is used viciously, it ultimately means nothing because the executor is raging at a wrong done to themselves as opposed to “black boy” which would be seen as a mockery and denigration, hinting at the term’s executioner’s social and racial “superiority”. It is not the same, words mean nothing anymore anyway. For a white person to even attempt to pull that card is absurd and frivolous to say the least and stupid to say a lot less.
To use the term is not a privilege but a resort and a resistance at the same time as a forfeit. This means confusion and explains it, and whites could never understand it. They could know of it, but never understand. They could never take offence to it the way a black counterpart would, just like blacks can’t look back on white history and feel proud of it (bounties can, although it is all through shame) because it was done at the expense of blacks, and it is institutionalized. (That again is racism, so deeply rooted that it appears as the norm, but it IS racist. They talk about Napoleon being great and in the French system, practically sing his praises and force you to do the same, while forgetting to mention that when slavery was abolished throughout the French empire, he went out of his way to bring it back. He was an oligarchic pompous buffoon, bombast in his ways, manner and speech and as racist as sanguinary).
White people could never know “black pain”, and might know the melody of the “long black song” but could never feel the rhythm, or follow the beat.
No one should use the word nigga, certainly not whites, but a black cannot be more offended by the word than they are by the murder, poverty and discrimination and rejection flung on them by their own race, (Especially being minorities, although black on black killings make up HALF of the murders in white dominated cities and countries (US, UK), and in black countries, much more -Black people are being killed faster than anyone on this planet, be it through murder or intended diseases, this whole notion of “white on white” is foolish) The word represents those things, and as long as those things exist in the community, so will the word, unfortunately, for there are some who will never stop using it.
This however has absolutely nothing to do with whites, and so they have no call to use it, and should stop it. I get angry when blacks call me nigga, because of their ignorance, and I’ll be damned if I let a caucasian, (Arab, south Asian, Oriental, or White) call me nigga, and dare to antagonise my feelings at the expense of a rap song.
